Postira is a small village located in the northern part of the island of Brac, between Splitska and Pučišća. It takes its name from the Latin "Pastura" which means pasture. His most famous monument is the castle Lazarić with the Renaissance pediment. In Postira was born one of the most prominent Croatian writers, Vladimir Nazor. Other important persons of Postira were the sculptor Pavao Gospodnetic, the sculptor of Rome and Dubrovnik Nikola Lazanic and the poet Ivan Ivanisevic.

Among the sights you should visit the parish church of St John, near which were found a crypt , baptistery and two tanks . Above Postira rises Mirje with the early Christian monastery of St. Stephen and the observatory . In Lovrečina you will find the source of fresh water with the remains of a church with a single nave. In the sea there are the remains of a port that demonstrate the existence of a village from the Roman era. We suggest you stay at the private apartments and holiday homes in Postira but also in hotels, camps and tourist resorts. Among the sports you can play tennis, basketball and skittles. The beaches of Postira are mainly of gravel and rock surrounded by pine forest. During the summer in Postira there are also various cultural events. Known is the cultural event of Postirsko ljeto ( Summer in Postira ) which includes the feasts of St. John, the patron of the parish church, and the feast of Our Lady of the Virgin Mary.
