Kršinić. 1953 starts to work in his own studio. 1954 first one man show. 1970 begins construction of his house, studio and Sculpture Park in Vrsar. He lived and worked between Zagreb, Vrsar and Brussels. …With more than half of a century of work behind him, Dzamonja is one of the most distinguished artists in Europe. A testimony to his contribution to art has been provided throughout his career by the many honors, prizes, and commissions that had come this way. So what is that particular quality that he has contributed to the world of sculpture for which has been so widely recognized bx museums and critics? In as much as it is ever possible to answer such questions, three aspects of Dzamonja’s work suggest themselves. He developed new ways of using traditional materials; he reconciled the intractability of metal to the fluidity and animation of nature; and , without resorting to narrative, he imbued his architectural monuments with the sensation of human presence…

Museum Sacral Collection of Funtana and Vrsar (Vrsar, Istria)
Permanent exhibit of paintings, statues, liturgical items, arts and crafts This church, dating from the first half of the 17th century was built in the Renaissance style but with some Baroque elements too. The facade and the Renaissance portal are very plain. On both sides of the portal there are two windows with iron bars. Until the requisition of the bells for war purposes during the World War I and II in the belfry there were two bells made in the Venetian foundries (from the 17th and 18th century). The bell with the signature OPVS CASTELLIS made in the 16th century in the Venetian foundry was removed in the World War I. It was replaced by the bell made in the foundry Lapagna in Trieste in 1922. This bell, as well as the other one from the 17th century, decorated with images of St. Fosca, the Madonna and crucifixion and provided with the Latin text SANCTA FVSCA VRSARIAE MDCLXXX (St. Fosca of Vrsar 1680) was taken away during the World War II. However, these bells were not used for war purposes and today they can be seen in the bell tower of the parish church of St. Martin. The church of St. Fosca has been recently renovated. Its sacral collection contains valuable exhibits, such as the painting “Martyrdom of St. Fosca” from the 17th century. Especially attractive are the sepulchral slabs decorated with coat-of-arms and Latin texts. In front of the main altar there is the tomb of the Vrsar priest Luka Prodanić (Luca Prodanich), Croat, who died in 1659. The clerical symbols (Chalice and host) are engraved on the slab.

Museum Mijo Mirković – Mate Balota Memorial Collection (Rakalj, Istria)
The collection is located in Rakalj (Castelvecchio), a small town in southern Istria. It is housed in the native home of Mijo Mirković – Mate Balota and is one of the locations that attest to the four hundred year history of the town. The collection was established in 1968. It is a transformation of the writer’s works into a museum collection, which presents the region in relation to the writer’s life and work. During the subsequent years, the collection has been reorganized several times and has been supplemented with donations made by local residents and the Mirkovic family. Mijo Mirković (1898 – 1963) was an academician and a professor at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb. He published a substantial number of books, scientific studies, and articles on economics and Croatian cultural history, many of which are pioneering works in different scientific disciplines. He was deeply involved in journalism and literature and is the author of various scientific monographs on Matthias Flacius Illyricus. Prominent among his literary works are: Dragi kamen (1938), poems in Chakavian dialect; the novel Tijesna zemlja (1946); and chronicles related to Istrian themes. His poetry, characterised by a powerful social tone, is related to the Istrian people and their land. The permanent exhibition (2005), with its ethnographic material, photographs, personal items, documents and audio recordings, aims to depict the complex creative life of Mijo Mirković. The story of his life and work is told through four thematic units: Mijo Mirković and Rakalj, Life Path, Literary Motifs, and The Legacy of Mate Balota (with a special unit on traditional pottery from Rakalj). A segment of the exhibition is suited to school-age visitors. It is guided by a particular pedagogical approach and presents numerous photographs and documents.

Ethnographic Collection Kastelir (Kastelir, Istria)
Even today many people cherish memories of past times. Vittorio Rossoni started his ethnographic collection completely by chance – while renovating his family house he came across some twenty old household articles that our grandparents used. As time went by this valuable collection grew and became a real testimony of how people once lived in these areas. The cellar of the old house is full of tools that were once used by carpenters, stone masons, shoe-makers, coopers, blacksmiths, and also musical instruments and personal belongings such as photographs, letters, eye glasses, shaving kit, alarm clock, as well as numerous household articles that tell the story of Istria’s past better than words.
