Limski Kanal
Keskenysége miatt a horvátok néha Lim-csatornaként (Limski kanal) is emlegetik. A torkolatot néha fjordnak is nevezik, noha valójában nem fjord, hanem ria, ugyanis nem a jég, hanem az Adriai-tenger felé tartó folyó koptatta ki, amikor a tengerszint alacsonyabban volt.

The remains of dinosaurs have been found in Istria, and thus became part of the story of the peninsula. Take a journey into the distant past and experience both visually and acoustically these awesome creatures that ruled the earth for millions of years .
In the 21 century the word extinct does not necessarily mean that one can not become "alive" again. Thanks to the latest computer technology, the dinosaurs are even able to move. Some of the exhibits are designed and made by the companies that participated in the film and documentary production.
When you walk through the wooden pedestrian paths in the beautiful karst forest with rocky gorge landscape, you'll see the magnificent giants of the past, and have an unforgettable experience. In addition to this Dinopark can provide a wide range of a different kind of entertainment. The park offers a show where are 800 seats available and variete, circus and magic shows are performed daily. In the Arena there are the internet café, self-service restaurant, dino cinema, children's playground, a museum with dinosaur fossil remains. In the open air there are kids train, trampolines, air castles, carousels. You are invited to see the daily performance of the motorcycle ride on 25m high wire performed by a group of "Flying Devils".
Dinopark Funtana offers exciting tracks in the beautiful countryside and a rich entertainment program for the visitors of all ages. One thing is certain, the era of dinosaurs in Istria is just beginning. We would be delighted to welcome you in our park.

Luka Vrsar
Along the coast between the village of Funtana and the Lim Channel the archaeological zone is stretching containing finds from the Antiquity and Roman times. On several locations remains of Roman country villas (villae rusticae) have been discovered. Abundant traces of Roman private and public buildings have also been found around the bay. Pietro Coppo. an Italian geographer from Isola was the first who. in his book "Del sitto dell Istria" dating from the first half of the 16th century ("On the position of Istria", Venice. 1540), drew attention to the remains of the Roman architecture in the harbour of Vrsar. Referring to them, he wrote: "Along the most part of the coast... there are remains of ancient buildings, what gives evidence that once a number of houses were standing here".At the beginning of the 20th century the Czech archaeologist Anton Gnirs (1875-1933) wrote about some Roman remains in the harbour of Vrsar which had come under the sea due to soil depression.
Necropolis Vrsar
Harbour equipment from the Roman period shows the existence of brisk trading at that time. In the past the remains of the Roman embankment could also be seen in the harbour. On the southern side of the promontory Montraker. which is bordering the harbour from the north, remains of the Roman necropolis (graveyard) have been discovered, together with a modest sepulchral inventory. The ashes of burned dead bodies used to be put into the urns and then buried. Some ten years ago a Roman cipus (tombstone) from the 2nd century was excavated in the harbour. The tombstone was erected by a husband to his beloved wife. On the cipus the following text is engraved: DIES MANIBUS SECURAE CON1UGI DULCISSIMAE AURELIUS CRAESCES FECIT. (To the house-gods. To the sweet wife Secura. raised by Aurelius Crasces). This is the only Roman epigraphic monument discovered in Vrsar. At present it is kept in the Regional Museum in Poreč". Fragments of late antique sarcophagi have also been found in Vrsar.
